We are thrilled to welcome you to our Website. As is mentioned in our Website, the Fund is an organization established by the gouvernement du Québec more than 20 years ago in order to protect consumers involved in a real estate transaction.
The Fund’s mandate is to manage and invest the sums that all real estate brokers and agents pay every year in order to compensate the few people who are victims of fraud, dishonest transactions or misappropriation of funds or other property which, under the Act, must be deposited in a trust account. The annual sums paid into the Fund by the Québec real estate brokers and agents serve to preserve the profession’s integrity.
A Board of Directors composed of seven members from various regions of the Province of Québec manages the sums deposited into the Fund. The Board meets several times a year in order to examine the eligibility of the claims received and determine the amounts to be paid. The Board ensures that the decisions are fair and just considering the specific context imposed by law and the criteria established by the Fund.
