Management of the Fund

The Fonds d'indemnisation du courtage immobilier, created under the Loi sur le courtage immobilier (Real Estate Brokerage Act), is under the authority of the ministère des Finances du Québec, and is managed by a Board of Directors comprised of seven members appointed by the Government. Four of its members are chosen among holders of certificates issued by the Association des courtiers et agents immobiliers du Québec (ACAIQ); the three other members are persons likely to make a special contribution to the advancement of the profession.

The Fund consists of fees paid by members of the ACAIQ. The Fund's directors have the duty to manage these sums and to ensure that they earn the highest rate of return possible. The directors determine the validity of claims and set the compensation amounts, as required, up to a maximum of $15,000 per claim. The Board of Directors meets four to five times per year.
